Our Story

3 min read

Every extraordinary celebration deserves a setting with a story. Long before this became a place for weddings and milestones, it was already known for bringing people together.

The Windmill Era

In the 1960s, this building came to life as the Windmill Dinner Theatre—part of a celebrated circuit where dining and live performance were seamlessly intertwined.

Evenings unfolded with music, laughter, and anticipation as the “Barnstormers”—a talented troupe of singing servers—transformed the room from dining space to stage.

The theater welcomed an impressive array of performers, including Willie Nelson, Charley Pride, and Wayne Newton, along with renowned stage and screen actors touring in live productions.

With its distinctive architecture and innovative revolving stage, the Windmill offered an experience that was both sophisticated and unforgettable.

As the era of dinner theater faded, the performances grew quiet—but the spirit of the space remained.

A New Chapter: The Hayloft

The building found new life as The Hayloft, a beloved Fort Worth restaurant known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Families gathered here for celebrations, traditions were formed, and the space became a familiar part of everyday life for generations.

Located near the iconic Spanish Galleon restaurant, the area became a destination full of character, memory, and community.

Rediscovery

Over time, the original structure gave way—but not the story.

What remained was a sense of place, shaped by decades of shared experiences and meaningful gatherings.

The property’s distinctive mansard roof—an elegant hallmark of classic French design—continued to set it apart, hinting at the timeless character within.

The Chateau Today

Today, the story continues at Chateau at Forest Park.

Reimagined as a refined event venue, the space now hosts weddings, quinceaneras, celebrations, and once-in-a-lifetime moments.

While the performances have changed, the purpose has not—it has always been a place where people come together.

Every event adds a new chapter to a legacy that began decades ago.
